On March 29th, 2005
Presidents' Council hosted a Nominations & Elections workshop for the Parents in District 21
Guest Facilitators -
Linda Romano - Parent Support D21
Marie Castillucci - Parent Support D31 |
Our objective was to insure all PA/PTA's nominating committees understood
the nomination & election process as outlined in the Chancellors Regs
A660
Linda & Marie gave a
power point presentation with lots of information and excellent commentary.
The true spirit of Teamwork showed through today with Linda & Marie both facilitating the workshop!
After the presentation Presidents' Council held a mock election. We had a
nominating committee that helped to run the elections. Many nominations were
taken from the floor and our principal, Ms. PITA (Linda), stood by to watch and
assist. Our nominating committee did a great job responding to the
situations we set up for them. nominations were accepted and declined. Marie
was one of our parents and got elected to two positions, Georgette &
Ilona declined their election, double votes, no votes etc etc etc. Of course we couldn't cover every scenario
that might come up in any given election, but we tried to cover as many of
the most common ones that might come up with a contested election.
After the workshop was over, Mr. Siegel (Principal of Lafayette) gave us a
tour of Lafayette. We were very impressed with the wonderful programs and
the relationship Mr. Siegel has with the students. His pride in Lafayette
really shined through. Thank you Mr. Siegel for not only the tour but your
hospitality and having Lafayette host our workshop.
Thanks to the Parents who
attended and allowed Presidents' Council to offer yet another successful
workshop to the D21 parent community.
Special Thanks to Linda
Romano & Marie Castillucci.
For your constant support to District 21 Parents and for the great
presentation.
Extra Special Thanks to Marie Castillucci for coming from Staten Island to
assist the D21 parent community.
