What to do in January / February

January is a good month to review school procedure for inclement weather. Also alert parents how to find out if schools will be closed or have delayed openings during snow days.
DOE Procedure

Remember to have your 2nd Quarterly with your Principal.

Remember G2 is due 2/15

February ~ Formation of the Nominating Committee

February's meeting notice should state that a Nominating Committee will be formed.  A return tear off may accompany the notice so that interested parties can volunteer for the committee.  The Committee will be formed at the February meeting. Those not sending in a tear off can still be on the nominating committee.

The committee should have at least 5 members of which 3 are from the general membership. The other two may be outgoing board members.

*
A majority of the nominating committee must be selected by vote of the membership. The nominating committee selects its own chairperson. Staff may not participate on the nominating committee.

The nominating committee is responsible for conducting the election process, canvassing the membership for all eligible candidates, determining candidate eligibility, sending notices, running nominating meetings, and the election. The nominating committee shall solicit recommendations for candidates for consideration. Parent coordinators may not verify candidate or voter eligibility.

The nominating committee must conduct a screening to determine candidate eligibility based on student registration or if the student is on a District 75 register, full-time attendance in the school, and must report the eligible list to the PA membership. All members, both parents and staff, where applicable,
